oh wow. it's been a while. i hate starting blogs like that.

i got to talk to my lovely emily this week and realized how long it's been since i've been in touch with my faraway friends.  i'm afraid i've lived in nashville too long now. i don't get to read blogs as much as before.  seems like all of you have children now...not babies anymore, wow!  can i blame xanga though for not keeping up with ya'll...bc i don't like the new setup.  so if you want to skip my update, i won't be offended. but i will know that i updated and that i love you all dearly and wish i could see you soon.  i'd really like to take a trip around the u.s. and see everyone.  i'll get to that in a minute.

i keep my flickr updated pretty regularly.  i'd like to refer to it as my memory.  i'm not sure i would be able to recall everything if i didn't take pictures.  the thing that is most prevalent lately is dinners.  dinners dinners dinners.  we cook allll the time. we've had to take a break from our weekly big dinners bc it was literally just eating all the time!
we had italian food one night...

then we had a big breakfast for dinner twice that i don't have pictures for.  i'm surprised i remember it. ;)
i participated in making a really great smoked salmon frittata.  seriously, i've never been so proud of myself.  it wasn't hard to make but if you know my background with cooking, you'd be proud too.  two weekends ago, me and brent made blackberry lemon gelato that was really delicious too.
 see? :)  so good!
oh, who's brent?  he's an excellent cook.  and loves my dog.
but all this food and eating and sitting around on couches petting puppies has made me and becca ride our bikes a lot lately.  thank goodness, right?

speaking of goodness: dark knight. imax. yes and yes.

here's kind of proof i've sort of been taking a watercolor class.

i say kind of sort of because work has gotten in the way somewhat.  i wish we had an overall project we were working on.  it's fun to learn technique but finding the time to make myself sit down and practice is tougher than i'd anticipated.

so that's a pretty good update, right?

a list:

1. crazy carrie got married...
and she had us over for a bbq.  they have the biggest freakin house of any friend i have.  they made really good food and then we played with richard's planes.

i really don't know if i can explain that any better.

2. sometimes i take pictures of things and sometimes i forget. 
you can only look through so many pictures of my friends (that you probably don't know) having fun before you really need a picture of me with my boss' new puppy!

this is to fill that need.  oh hi louie!  he even looks like glyna.

3.  baby birds are all over my life right now. 
i mean, they're pretty much dying.  but they are there. 

cindy says 2 in 6 baby birds die.  that's a horrifying statistic and a slight exaggeration.  this one fell out of its nest at bongo java, someone kicked it and now it wobbles like a drunk brontosaurus.  it was so sad.  ask sarahdactyl.  then later me and apple went over to becca's...

...and apple, um, played with another bird.  we had to remove it from the premises.  it was already wounded prior to apple's playfulness. she's not a killer.

4. my dad would be proud.  last night i went fishing.  it doesn't hurt that i've been hanging out with the oldest boy scout.  we were driving by the duck pond last night and he said HEY wanna go fishing??  you know, because he keeps a retractable fishing pole in his car of course.  i become a toddler around toys.  so fun. 

you can't tell but this is brent fishing.

6.  i am reading a really fun book. 
 
this picture is too huge.  attempt to reduce its size later.
so read it. it's really clever.  and it drops knowledge bombs all over the place.  i feel smarter and i'm only at "C".  it's really hard not to read the last page.  i have to talk myself out of it every time i sit down.  i have read a sentence about 'Z'.  so enticing.
